"On the eve of this momentous occasion, let us remember that we, the nations of the Treaty of Cardiff, are united under one purpose. In the wake of the tragedy that rocked the world twenty years ago, it is our imperative to rebuild and to ensure our way of life. As such, these brave settlers have endures many perils to cross the Atlantic and head to the New Continent. There, they will put their lives at risk so that future generations will have water, land and prosperity in their grasp. Let nothing stand in the way of progress and the renaissance of our nations!"
- William Tecumseh Sherman, General Commander of the Allied Forces of the Cardiff Nations
Departure Speech on the Ports of Pittsburgh, July 15th, 1884
"They're coming. There's nothing we can do to stop that. Although we do not know their plan, we know that they aim to settle here. Now, we can either make peace with them or we can fight them. Those of you who are young may not remember what it was like to be constantly at war. War eats away at the human spirit. Each of us who survived that time did so at a terrible cost to ourselves. Before you head to Omaha, full of piss and wind, know this. You have one chance to get this right. One chance. You botch this, and everyone else back home will pay the price. Keep your wits about you, plan your moves carefully and think of your nations first. Good luck."
- Ulysses S. Grant, Commander of the Armed Forces of Fortress Laramie

Keystone Event 0.2: "The Eye of the Maelstrom"
1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel
Unlike other events, we plan our hotel events as part LARP event, part social vacation. In other words, we encourage you to stay the weekend, play the game and spend time with your fellow players and cast. Here's how it works.
We expect to have much of our cast at the hotel by Friday evening. We will likely gather at the hotel's watering hole, chat, laugh, maybe even bring some board games with us. There will likely be some sort of trivia contest, where you can win fabulous prizes. At some point, cast will scamper off to handle last-minute preparations while the rest of you laugh the evening away.
Come Saturday, we run the event from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. You know, that LARP thing we're here to do. After that, we will break for dinner and head out in different groups around the immediate area. Eat, laugh, take a shower, hit the hotel's pool and jacuzzi or take a break in your room, it's up to you. Later that evening, we'll meet again, likely in the same room we ran the event, where we'll give out awards in a lighthearted awards ceremony. Someone will invariably serve as bartender, we'll bring board games, laugh, chat and generally have a good time. Hit the sack whenever you feel like it.
Whenever we are up and about on Sunday morning, those of us who find each other will likely grab breakfast, hang out and have fun. Sooner or later, you'll have to head home after saying goodbye to your new friends.
Sounds fun, right? All you have to do to enjoy all this fun is sign up for the event and find a room in which to crash. We have a room block under the name "WINGED THRONE" (our parent company), which will give you access to a room at the discounted rate of $105.00/night. Hotels.com currently lists rooms for that weekend at $175.00/night, so that is a good deal. The cut-off date for the block discount is Monday, July 27th, so make your reservations soon!
Thank you very much for joining us and becoming a part of the Keystone world. We look forward to seeing you in the Shattered West. Yeehaw!
